My name is Rachel and I’m the owner of The Pink Peony! I have a love for fashion that dates back to childhood. I was one of six children and my mom made most of my clothes. She taught me how to sew at a very young age.

One Christmas, someone from the church we attended gave me a Barbie doll. I started sketching clothing designs and using leftover scraps of fabric to sew clothes for her, and that's where my love for fashion began!

Fast forward to 2015- After many years of working in lending and then in the legal field, I found myself as a single mom struggling to find balance. My job was demanding, and I had to leave the kids with babysitters more often than I liked. The mom guilt was real.

In 2016, I started dating the kindest, most handsome guy! It was a fast and furious romance and nine months later we were married! Shortly after he proposed, we were talking about our dreams in life, and I mentioned that I had always wanted to open a boutique. His immediate response was “then why haven’t you?” That was the beginning of his mission to bring my lifelong dream to fruition, and because of his persistence, it finally happened!

On June 16, 2017, we opened The Pink Peony! The building we were in had a loft that became the hangout for my kids, making the mom/ career balance I longed for, a reality!

In May of 2021, my husband was diagnosed with late-stage prostate cancer. His diagnosis was devastating and I had to shift my focus to caring for him and our family. As his illness has progressed, he’s had conversations with me about the importance of shifting my focus back to the boutique. He doesn’t want to see me give up on the dream that I’ve worked so hard to achieve. Launching this website is the next step in keeping that dream alive!
